Child & Teen Classes

Our children Classes begin at ages five and up, they are taught how to correctly kick, block and punch. Our Taekwondo course is geared towards children's fascination with "karate" and other martial arts to teach them a practical, responsible self-defense program with numerous of other benefits, both physical and mental.
 
Improves Coordination
During their growing-up years, all children go through phases of awkwardness. Taekwondo teaches balance, grace, and coordination on both the right and left sides. Children learn to simultaneously perform different movements with their feet and hands as well as balancing, jumping, and learns to predict similar movements from other students.

Promotes Mental Awareness
Hundreds of children are abducted every year because they are not aware that they are in danger. The children in our taekwondo course learn how to recognize an unsafe situation, and what to do about it.
 
Develops Self-Discipline
When asked what they would like their child to get out of taekwondo, most parents cite, "self-discipline." Our program helps to increase the children's attention span, promotes concentration skills, and then rewards them for their accomplishments. Teaching a child how to improve his or her discipline, allows that child to perform well in other activities: school, scouting, sports, music, and later, college and careers. We're helping to shape the leaders of tomorrow!
 
Increases Self-Confidence
As students achieve higher ranks they are proud of the progress they have made and more respect is shown to them by fellow students and instructors. Taekwondo gives them the confidence to try new things: enter a spelling bee, go out for band, drill team, or the debate club. Because our students know how to defend themselves, they are less likely to fight. After all, aggression is a symptom of low self-esteem.
 
Enhances Flexibility and Fitness
Students will continue to have fun as they progress in rank and become more physically fit. Both parents and students report that Taekwondo is a terrific supplement to other sports, keeping the children active and fit all year long. It also enhances their skills in all kinds of sports such as baseball, basketball, football, and soccer etc. However, Taekwondo is not just for natural athletes! It will greatly improve any child's fitness and flexibility.
 
Sport Taekwondo
A lot of people are confuse between Traditional Taekwondo, and sport Taekwondo, here at McCarthy's Taekwondo/Self Defense we offer both. The sport side for students that want to compete in Taekwondo Tournaments at (Local, State, Junior Olympic, and National level). Students will be train in both, but the decision to compete is left up to the student and their parent.
